The Ft. Hays State President's Club Gala in Hays, Kansas was hosted by President Mirta M. Martin and Mr. John N. Martin Jr. It was a celebration of philanthropy and the unveiling of the first three of six murals created by Ft. Hays State University instructor of art, Joel T. Dugan depicting “The Journey”.

The Journey is hung in the foyer of the Memorial Union on FHSU's campus. These large oil-on-canvas paintings depict the journey of the people who settled western Kansas in hopes of new opportunity. The remaining panels will be completed within the 2016-2017 academic year.
